Memoirs of landscape
Memoirs of Landscape questions memory of place. In ancient Greek literature, eidola represent the spirit-images of living or dead people. Our understanding of apparitions suggests sketchy images possessed of variable resemblance to those they represent. Memoirs of Landscape blends a mixture of altered contemporary photographs, scanned slides from family histories and current digitally produced artworks. But the origin of each work can be as unclear as our fading memories of place and alteration stands as metaphor for the multiple strands that form our understanding of place and its changes over time.
